Who We Are?
Background Information “Aniko“
As a Home School mother, subsequently qualified as Teacher, afterwards Qualified as a certified School Readiness Assessor, I specialise in evaluating your child against a balanced battery of very well thought through development and readiness assessment criteria. These criteria allow me to give you an accurate insight on where your child measures against the base / average child that is considered “school ready” *. Because of my 15 years of experience having to recognise and making observations on emotional, social and behavioural markers of children I interact with, I take great care to share my observations with the referring parent / caretaker in a one on one feedback session as well as preparing a school readiness report, allowing the parent / care giver to make informed decisions on any further interaction they need to engage in to address potential Academic / Physical Emotional /Social / Behavioural gaps identified during these sessions.
I also do follow up sessions focusing on the gaps identified during the pre and primary assessment session, advising on progress / status of the learner after the parent has enacted the required / recommended remedial activities by the referred or chosen remedial specialist.
Including physical and motor development assessment, I also do basic assessment on the, attention, visual and auditory responses of your child during the session. My observations are elaborated on in the assessment report.
On request I provide for one on one assessment sessions at my home office, normally not more than 2 learners per sessions at home, and a maximum of 4 children at suitably furnished and appropriate locations amenable to test conditions at a requesting school.
The one on one sessions are aimed at making your child comfortable to be themselves and thus allowing me to give you more detailed feedback on what I Observe & Assess during these sessions.
I have access to a professional network of remedial specialist and therapist that “on request” I can refer you to in the case of any readiness concerns I pick up during the evaluation sessions.
In the case of discovering areas of concern with your child, I am able to guide you through the process and advice you on what to expect on engaging with the required specialist / professional that will be in a position to help with the specific area/s of concern.
Typical referrals include Play Therapy Specialist, Educational Psychologist (Evaluate), Occupational Therapist (Do Work)
I also can provide you with advice and references to Auditory and Visual Specialist if the assessment so advices.
*School Readiness – There are so much more to “readiness to learn” (which is a whole life journey) and a “readiness for school” (predominately associated with a fixed age). School readiness is a balance of emotional maturity as well as scholastic ability that covers multiple areas of development competencies, the most prominent of these being ① Physical and Motor Development ② Emotional and Social Development ③ Cognitive Development ④ Language Development ⑤ Emotional maturity.
